Devices are IoT entities such as sensors, switches, and actuators that can be used to generate telemetry data or RPC commands. For example, you can create a device in Thingspod and see the data of your sensor in the telemetry section of the device. Also, you can display device data using dashboard widgets.
Adding a Device Groups
Follow the command below to add device groups:
- From the main menu on the left side of the screen, click on Device Groups.
- In the upper right corner, click on the + icon and enter a name for your group. Then click on the Add button.
- Click on Open Device Group and enter the Devices page.

Adding a new device
Now you can add a new device to your device group as follows:
- Click on the + icon in the upper right corner of the screen. In the opened menu, select Add new device and enter a name for the device.
- Click on the Add button.
- Your device has been created successfully.
Device authentication management
To securely send data from the device to the platform, the tenant administrator can manage device authentication. The current version of the platform supports Access Token and X.509 certificates for authentication.
By clicking on the desired device, a new window will open for you, where you will see the Copy access token in the Details tab. Also, from the Manage Credentials section, you can choose your authentication type.
The Access Token of the device is used in adding and connecting the device.
Get device ID
The tenant administrator and client users can copy the device ID to the clipboard using the "Copy Device ID" button and use it to send and receive device information through API and platform-independent systems.
Assigning device groups to the customer
The tenant manager can assign device groups to customers. To assign device groups to customers you must:
- From the Home section or the main menu on the left side of the page, click on "Device Groups" and then find the device group you want.
- On the right side of the device group, click on the "Share" icon.
- Select the customer in the opened window. After selecting a customer, the option to select a user group will be activated for you, and you must select the desired group from among the user groups of that customer and determine its role.
- Click on the "Assign" button.
Your device is now assigned to a customer. You can see the assigned device group in the customer section.
- Enter the "Customer Groups" page from the Home section or the main menu on the left side of the page.
- Select the customer group and enter the customer page.
- Click on the name of the customer you want.
- In the opened window, click on the "Manage Devices" button from the Details tab.
- The device group assigned to the customer can be seen in this section.
Searching device attributes
Tenant administrators and client users can search for device attributes.
- From the Home section or the main menu on the left, enter the "Device Groups" page and click on the device.
- In the Attributes tab, you can see the available attributes (Entity attributes scope), client attributes, server attributes, or shared attributes.
Searching Device telemetry
Tenant administrators and client users can search device telemetry data.
- From the Home section or the main menu on the left, enter the "Device Groups" page and click on the device.
- In the Telemetry tab, you can see the latest telemetry data.
Viewing Device alarms
Tenant administrators and client users can view device alarms.
- From the Home section or the main menu on the left, enter the "Device Groups" page and click on the device.
- In the Alarms tab, you can see the alarms available for the device.
Managing device relations
Tenant administrators and client users can manage device relations. For example, you can place your device as a subset of an asset by relations.
- From the Home section or the main menu on the left, enter the "Device Groups" page and click on the device.
- In the Relations tab, you can create relations for the device or view existing relations.
